Fall Foliage - Inspiration all around!!

Yesterday was such a lovely day that the hubby and I did a quick hike at Park City Mountain Resort. It was the last day for Summer/Fall operations. Time to start readying the mountain for ski season!!

From my last post, you saw where it snowed Thursday night. Well most of the snow has melted that is at the lower elevations. There is still some snow on the ground, plus the melted snow made the trail a little muddy. It was still great fun to do an afternoon hike. Here are a few pictures of the glorious fall foliage we are able to enjoy living in Park City!!
One of the many old structures you find around the town of Park City. This is actually an original part of a lift at PCMR.

I love that we are able to enjoy all the colors of Fall. From the deep reds to the bright yellows!!
You can see how muddy the trail was. Also the small amount of snow remaining mixed with the falling leaves is just gorgeous.

Fall is my favorite season and time of the year. It is filled with cold nights and perfect days. The vibrant colors are so very inspiring. It puts me in a creative state of mind. I begin working on Winter ensembles such as scarves and hats. It also gets me geared up and planning for Christmas décor. Is there a certain season that inspires you the most? Leave a comment and let me know which season and why. Everyone have a great week!!

Pinterest Inspiration - Scarves, Shawls, Fabric Wall Art & Stockings

I have been MIA for the past two weeks due to moving. We only moved further into town, but a move is a move. All the packing and deciding to keep this and that was very overwhelming. Now it is the unpacking and deciding where we should now have this and that in the new home! Plus the new home is a tri-level with 4 flights of stairs! But once all moved in, it will be worth all the anxiety. We are now in the heart of Park City walking distance to main street and Park City Mountain Resort. So with all the moving I have not had anytime to crochet! I have had time to peruse Pinterest while at work though..hehehe! ;-)

With the crisp Autumn coolness in the morning air lately, I have been researching new scarf and shawl patterns. I found these lovelies!

This image is on the blog Black on Gold. It is a fashion blog and there is no pattern for the scarf but it is so cute and I think I can figure it out.
Very cute shawl from lorka on flickr. Again no pattern, but I think I can find the pattern on Ravelry.
Gorgeous shawl by Ecl at Dusoleil on Ravelry.
Now that I am in a new home, I of course need some new décor! My bedroom has a very high ceiling that means a very tall wall. So I saw this cute crafty idea to add a few pops of color without breaking the bank. You take fabric wrap it around a rectangle piece of Styrofoam and staple on the back!

A new place calls for new Christmas décor as well! I have been debating on making new stockings for the family for awhile now. I love the burlap look and think it would go so well with our new home!

Simple but cute!

I am hoping to be back in the groove of crocheting and finishing up a few of my WIPs this week! I hope some of these pins from Pinterest inspire you as well!

Weekend Crafting & Summer Biking

I decided to refurbish an old rocking chair that I have had since before my son's birth. It was in great condition up until we made an across country move. We have had to keep  it on our balcony due to not enough room inside and the winters really did it in. I lightly sanded it and then spray painted it a gorgeous aqua blue. Now I just need to make a cute patchwork cushion for it!!

Before & After

Very easy to do and I had a lot of fun with my daughter. Now she is claiming the rocker for her bedroom.

Summer biking

The hubby & I decided to do some mountain biking on Sunday. We biked at Park City Mountain Resort. They have so many great biking/hiking trails. We decided to do an uphill only trail that connected at the Mid-mountain trail. Well, uphill meant a 2500 vertical foot climb! I was so ready to throw a bike by the time we crested the top! I hibed (hike pushing bike) most of the uphill because it was so busy on the trail that I would stop and let better bikers pass me. Once I was off I thought why not just do some hibing and take a few pics.

Fallen Spruce tree...love the texture!

Nice stopping spot on the trail...still have 2 more miles of going up at this point!

Armstrong Trail...can you see the vertical climb? It was uphill still at this point.

The merger of Mid-mountain with Armstrong. These guys had biked 8 miles from the Canyons Resort at this point.

Park City..what a beautiful view

Park City was a silver mining town in the late 1800s upto the mid 1980s. There are so many mine shafts all over the mountain and throughout the city. This one is above the Silver Star lift on Park City Mountain Resort.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful  summer. I have enjoyed my summer so far, but I am looking so forward to the fall. I love biking these mountain trails in fall because the colors are so vibrant and it is so much cooler!

WIP Wednesday - Lacy Scarf

Hello everyone! I cannot believe it is Wednesday already! The weather was just beautiful all week until yesterday. The rain has come in and it is wet and cold. But on the bright side, there are so many pretty daffodils and tulips blooming. It's crazy how one day there is no flowers and then the next so many vibrant colors!

I would have taken my own pics but the weather has been so rainy.
You can't help but love the vibrant orange and pinks in those gorgeous tulips!!

This week I have worked on my Simply Soft afghan and now working on the border! Yay!! I cannot wait to share its finish look. Hopefully by Friday it will be complete!

I came across a great sale at Michael's a couple of weeks ago. I picked up a couple skeins of Red Heart Soft yarn. It is a slight bit thicker than my go-to Caron Simply Soft yarn. I of course stuck with my favorite colors, blue and brown.

I have been itching to use it, so I decided to do up my quick go-to scarf pattern. It is a free downloadable pattern on lionbrand.com. If I use one color scheme, it takes maybe two hours to complete. Mainly because I prefer to make extra long scarves to achieve that double wrap look. It's a fairly simple pattern. This time I decided to try alternating colors, which has become pretty time consuming so far. I might play around with the color pattern and see what works for me. It is the Lion Brand Crochet Lacy Scarf pattern. I have made numerous scarves with this pattern. I sometimes make it into an infinity scarf or add decorative buttons. It is such a lovely look once complete. Here is my progress so far with this one:

Thanks for stopping by!! I am hoping to be able to post a completed Simply Soft Afghan on Friday!! I am crossing all fingers and toes to have it completed this week.
