Linen Stitch Afghan Update

Hi everyone! Just a quick update on my linen stitch afghan. It is cruising along lovely. I really do enjoy the calming affect this afghan has on me. I don't have to constantly count, so it's such a stress reducing repetitive stitch.

Our weather has been so bipolar these past couple of months. One day we are in the high 60s and the next low 30s. Welcome to Spring in the Wasatch Mountains!! But we are having some lovely signs of Spring.

And with Spring I needed a renewed look in my family room. There had been this wonderful frame sale at Michael's Craft Store and I finally decided to frame all of our Ski Resort Trail Maps that we have collected throughout the years. Needless to say it was a daunting task when each trail map was odd sizes, but we did it and I'm thrilled with how it turned out.

These are just of Colorado and California and we still have a few more resorts to hit up in these states. Pretty much my whole family room is covered in trail maps. And we are missing a few from some of the East Coast slopes. I guess we will just have to revisit them!! I also will need to commission my father-in-law for another shot glass display. He did such an awesome job on these!
Enjoy the rest of your week! They are calling for rain and snow in our area this week. Although I am ready for biking season we do need as much rain and snow as we can get so our water table will be good during Summer.

March Musings

Saturday Crocheting while sipping on sweet tea and snacking on pretzels and almonds.
Thrift Store Shopping...collected a couple of pictures for my kitchen.
The beginning of a new project. A linen stitch afghan.

And the biggest thing to happen during the month of March...my son coming home from Air Force Tech School for a visit before heading to Colorado Springs for his assigned base.
I hope everyone else had a great March with the beginning of Spring and the sense of renewal. I am enjoying the longer daylight and the warmer weather. Sprouts of Spring have begun in my area and I feel as if the fog of dark days are finally lifting.

Ponderings

Long Lost Friends

As I sit and ponder over many days of long,
I remember of long lost friends that carried me so strong.

The sun shone down upon their sweet souls with loving rays.
The days warmed their adventures and plays.
The nights caressed them as they rested and slumbered.

As I look upon myself in the mirror and count each line and wrinkle,
I remember those long lost friends that frolicked and laughed to no end.
I ponder about where these friends have went.
Oh, how I miss Youth and Innocence.

February Project Planning

I have gathered all the yarn I need to begin a huge February project! I haven't really did any crocheting since December. I think I became burnt out from all of the gift making during September thru December. So now I have rested my wrists and am ready to get back to crocheting.

I came across a couple of afghan ideas on pinterest and plan on incorporating them together.

Picture Courtesy of Rescued Paw Designs. I love the organic look of these colors. I am not working the brown into my color scheme, but sticking to the cream, denim blue, and gray.

Picture courtesy of Leisure Arts. I love how they incorporated the daisy motif into this adorable ripple! So I am going to do the same with my chevron afghan. I also love the border on this afghan as well!
Now that I have a set plan for my next project, I am looking forward to beginning. We will be heading out to Colorado at the end of the week and I will have this project as my road trip crocheting.

Got out this weekend and did some skiing at Park City Mountain Resort and captured a gorgeous picture of the surrounding area.

Hello all! It has really been a cold couple of days here. Sundance is happening in town and we are swamped with tourists. Driving 6 miles down the road is taking 20 to 30 minutes, but it happens every January. I tried my best to be on vacation this year during Sundance, but I couldn't get into the resort I wanted until the day after! Just my luck!! But I think this year since it is not snowing, I will walk up to main street this weekend and do some D List Celebrity stalking. I'm not much of a star gazer except for the stars in the sky, so I will probably not even know who is a celebrity and who isn't.

The skiing has been hit and miss for me. I had knee surgery in June and have to wear a knee brace while doing anything sporty. So I'm skiing slower and a lot more cautious. I have yet to ski near the slope that took me down, but I will face my nemesis before the season ends!

Last Wednesday I met the husband after work for a few ski runs. All day I was thinking it was an ugly overcast day because you couldn't see much. Once I go up on the mountain, the sun was shining and it was a gorgeous day. We had some very low clouds that were covering the valley floor so sometimes we were riding up the ski lift through the clouds. It was a great couple of hours on the mountain. My husband captured some great pics while he was waiting on me to meet up with him.

Salt Lake City is under that blanket of clouds! My husband said it was his view from his office! Lucky man, because my view really sucks from my office!!

The husband also captured some great pictures of my daughter skiing in the deep powder we got in one day!

On the crocheting side of the house, I haven't really done much since the new year. I have a project in mind and all the skeins of yarn required. Hopefully I will have something to show next month. I'm planning on taking it on my trip next month and work on it during our driving.

Enjoying the ending of Fall and onset of Winter

Hello everyone!! Sorry for my long time away. I have just been enjoying Fall and now the onset of Winter. I have been doing some moderate mountain biking and hiking these last couple of months. My husband and I celebrated our 22nd Anniversary this past weekend. We did a quick weekend getaway to Yellowstone National Park. I had been a few years back, but my husband had not and he loves all things nature. I am going to bombard you with a few pics that we took. It was a very overcast weekend with snow and rain, so many of the pictures just don't show how vast and magnificent Yellowstone really is. I hope you enjoy.

This is the view at the West Entrance coming in from Montana. It was early morning and this river was lined with fly fishermen.

Gorgeous lone buffalo. They are throughout and we actually had a road block from a few. One really huge one came right up side our car and just looked in. I felt like we were in the State Farm commercial. He did do us a favor and went and made the few buffalo blocking the road move along and allow us to pass.

This is the beautiful canyon area around the Upper Yellowstone River Falls.

This is one of the two coyotes we saw. These little buggers caused us a great scare while hiking. They must have came upon a wolf pack's territory because while on the hike we were surrounded by wolves that we could smell and hear howling and yelping, but we never saw. I was so scared, but we kept our cool and waited for all the commotion to subside and then high tailed it back to our car.

Very beautiful coyote. It really is hard to capture a fast moving coyote on film, but I think it turned out pretty good. It had stopped for a brief second before running across the road in front of us.

This cute raven was perched on someone's car when I began taking a pic. He then flew down right by my foot and kept walking up to me. I think he was trying to make sure I got his good side.

These moose we saw in the Grand Teton National Park right outside of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. There was about 10 all together. It was really cold and snowing at this point. Many people were walking right up to these guys to take a picture. Not me, I have no desired to be stampeded by a bunch of irritated Moose.

Of course we had to watch Old Faithful do its thing!!
All and all it was a great trip. My husband loved all the geysers and hot spots that are scattered throughout Yellowstone. I think I hiked more to see geysers and hot pots more than anything. But it was all worth it to see the great big grin on my husband's face.

I can't post without sharing a couple of things I have crocheted the past few weeks. I haven't done as much as usual, but I just have to be outside during these months of the year!!

Everyone have a wonderful week!!
